Awsome as always. I'll toss the s/t Emit Rhodes album into this list. $8-10 all day long
What a great album!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Nice one Dom!!!
Missed your style, great video...... keep it up...
Thanks!
Some of the best music, artists / bands are on albums worth 10 or less.. Very true ! " Make It Last" on Montrose is Epic !! Saw Mr Sinatra at Caesars Palace in 1977 Las Vegas.🎵 Sold out show, as a matter of fact, that engagement was sold out months before.
I wish I saw Sinatra!!!
Very memorable.. I drove over to Caesars Palace in my 73 VW Van, met my father at the hotel, we didn't pay, all comp ( free with a favor owed ) 🎵
My very first live show was in December 73 opened with Montrose. It was 3 bands for $5.50and included Foghat and J Geils as headliner. Matt Johnson and The The need more love in the VC, it should be talked about more as an audiophile disc. Great list as always
Thanks man. What a show! 🎉
Ha.....I actually found Nancy/Lee last week for buck...was chuffed..... noce 1 D loops✌️🙂
Sweet!!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
John Mayall's Turning Point can still be found for 5 bucks I think. Maybe 10 nowadays, either way it's well worth it.
Great call on John Mayall’s albums! 🎉
Rod Stewart: "Never A Dull Moment" (1971) and "Every Picture Tells A Story" (1972) can be found for $5 and under all over the place, and they remain classic out-of-time blockbuster records that never feel dated.
That’s a great one. Early Rod. Amazing! 🎉
I'd love to find a full The The album for $10. In my experience, that's more the going rate for a The The 12" single.
What a single!!! 🎉
Totally agree about the Nancy & Lee album. I grew up in the 60's listening to the album, as my parents always use to play it, along with the 5th Dimension (hint, hint), when I was a kid. Their follow-up also has it's moments.
It’s a beaut!!! 🎉
Hi Dan, that Nancy and Lee record is a classic. I would see it all the time in charity shops in the UK but like you said, a bit harder to find now. In the UK, I often find The Very Special World of Lee Hazlewood for under a tenner. Brilliant album. It was released here on the Music for Pleasure label. A label that released some great comps on super heavy vinyl in the 1970s. I've got loads of them. All the best to you, Steve.
Steve, I would love to find that Lee Hazlewood album. Hope you are doing okay. - Chris
Great to hear from you Steve. Yeah a bit harder to find than before. Amazing artist! 🧑🎨 🎉
@christopherkibler511 Hi Chris, doing fine here in Wales. Lee Hazlewood is great - Requiem for an Almost Lady is my favourite. What a voice.
Nancy & Lee is wonderful, I know people with multiple copies of it, so it must be!. I see that Montrose album all the time at fairs, never heard it. I would say Soul Mining is probably in my top 5 80s albums, I've owned several copies over the years...This is the Day and Uncertain Smile are sublime songs..Jools Holland rocks up at the studio and does that piano solo in one take..astonishing.Tough to find for $10 (£8 Gbp) here in the UK..probably more like £15-£20. In my opinion, the greatest common record under $10 ..( its' often only £2 or £3 )is 10ccs' Sheet Music..utterly original and inventive UK pop that still sounds great 40 years after it's release. Cheers Dan Rob.
Cheers Rob. Yeah I guess The The more like $20. Love Nancy & Lee! Be well thanks for stopping by! 🎉
I just purged Nancy and Lee. I’ve never seen Rare Bird. Not that I’ve ever looked.
It’s worth it! 🎉
i remember back in 78-79 you couldn't swing a dead panther without finding 20 granite creek in a cut out bin or used for 2 bucks. GO OILERS!!!
Go Oil!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Dan. Great start, Montrose. Most Sinatra can be had for $10. I think that's the only Moby Great I don't own. I'll grab one. I'm down with that Rare Bird lp. The The I've seen, but didn't know what it's about. $10 gems in my opinion are early Ted Nugent, Paris, Armageddon ( with ex- Yardbirds member), to name a few. Peace ✌ ☮ 🕊
Armageddon a legendary $10 pick up!!!!😊😊😊
Great topic and picks. This was my greatest albums for under $5 list I shared for many years. Now it is greatest for under $10. That Tommy James album is harder to find for $10, but can be done. 1. Wayne Fontana And The Mindbenders - The Game Of Love 2. Tommy James & The Shondells - Crimson & Clover 3. Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed 4. The Nice - The Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack 5. Johnny Rivers - Realization 6. Runt - The Ballad Of Todd Rundgren
Great list. I wish I never sold my Crimson and Clover. Dumb! Great album!!! 🎉🎉🎉😊😊
If you live in Australia make it $40
I've never seen The The under 20
That’s what I am learning! Well. I sold one for $5. Mistake!
Wow first video in a looooong time that I posses absolutely none of the albums featured. I know if I watch some 20 yr old showing his/her latest album purchases I am lost to any of the artists but not vintage albums. Yes I know each of those groups just don’t own one of those albums. By the way that The The is way more than a dime to buy. It’s one I have on cd and found it once on vinyl but passed as the store wanted $30….yikes. 😮
30 Beans! 🫘 I should not have sold my last copy for $5 bucks! Prices are getting 🥜 ! Cheers 🎉
Love that Nancy & Lee album ! Summer Wine is my favourite track & Slowdive cover Some Velvet Morning on cd versions of Souvalki . Soul Mining is awesome 👌 ! Jools Holland on piano on Uncertain Smile & Giant sums it up perfectly " How Can Anyone Know Me ? When I Don't Even Know Myself !! " See The The on tour this fall in North America.
Jool’s Amazing on that track!!! 🎉
I'm glad to have Thrust (and gotten cheap), but I don't see it often. I can't find Dirty Mind, either - and that IS one I would pay money for. I got every Talking Heads album for $3 each in the 90s, so I am lucky/good.
Thrust cheap? Yes!!!!
I just bought the new 2024 Bon Job I CD. I could have bought the vinyl at 3 times the price.
Truth!
Dang...where do you get those great shirts?
Dude you think you know more than you do , now I’m 68 years old and did 2 tours of nam , July 2 1968 to September 9 1969 and December 23 1969 to August 6 1970, semper fii y’all get some marines get some !!!! USA USA USA !!!!!
No I don’t. Thank you for your service.
A really good 70s soul / psych sounding album you don't see very often is Billy Paul's - War of the Gods. The jacket on mine is in rough shape, but thankfully the vinyl is clean.
Neat. I had some Billy Paul previously but will have to check that out.
Yeah, In the US Vincebus Eruptum is everywhere in the wild. Those are stereo copies, I've only seen one mono copy. It was back in the late 80's and I'm still kicking myself for not getting it. Doors Waiting for the Sun US mono is super tuff, as is Morrison Hotel on the Gold/Tan label. Most US copies of that are on the red big E label. I had a friend back in the early 80's and he had an authentic wood coat hanger that was from The Morrison Hotel. I used to see OG US Doors albums quite a bit in the wild, it's not that way anymore. Not nice copies anyway.
Agree Ron. I have NEVER seen a Blue Cheer Mono. That would be neat! Have a great day! 🎉
Hey Dan. I'd say that the hardest Doors lp to find in good condition is L.A. Woman. The copies that I come across are always beat up. Same with the first 4-5 Mothers Of Invention lps. The garage records by Shadows Of The Night and Smokestack Lightning are always chewed, both the cover and vinyl. Also, I find it near impossible to find a clean copy of Pink Floyd The Wall. People wore them out. I'll identify others next time, there are so many more. Peace ✌ ☮ 🕊
The Wall is kinda tough actually. Especially clean. Take care!!! 🎉
90's Indie LP's, some are as rare as hens teeth. Luckily i bought a lot of them when they were first released.
They surely are! 🎉
I've been buying and listening to LPs since I was a kid in the late 60s. I have curated a pretty good collection, so today I'm much more picky about what I buy and especially pressing/condition. My general observation is that here in southern New England, finding clean, close to EX/NM OG copies of your favorite artists/band has become an extremely difficult endeavor, akin to needle-in-a-haystack oftentimes, and even when you do, you have to pay up. I'm OK with that, cause I think it's worth it. I now purchase most of my OGs from online sellers with whom I've developed a relationship. I still get out and go digging, but my expectations to find that sought-after copy are near zero.
So sadly true. OG albums from 60s and 70s in CLEAN shape? Harder to come by than an Oiler Stanley Cup win! 😊
i still have a mono doors debut lp. i found 2nd hand in Vancouver. on the gold Electra label, 6 bucks! yippie!!!
Yeah baby! 🎉
@@dotsloops7486 I found so many back in the late 70s Vancouver there was a store o on Broadway I scored so many cheap!
Motorhead did not sell well in the US. They are popular now but they were not that popular when Lemmy was alive. In LA they opened for lots of big acts but they were never headliners.
Would have loved to see them open for someone. Never did. Passed it up a few times. Dumb
Everything is relative. Most of the lps you showed although popular didn’t sell that well. Motorhead is a good example of a well known lp that simply didn’t sell all that well. Therefore there weren’t multiple represses at the time. It might be interesting to note here that none of the original Ramones lps sold well at all. Although youd think that with so many great tunes and lps that would be impossible but it’s absolutely true. Sire hung with them as long as they could. Even investing in that terrible Phil Specter debacle but they never sold shit back in the day. A mystery that confused me then and now. In some cases like Prince as he went along he had many ups and downs,so occasionally something might get a repress but again his old lps just didn’t sell. He also pissed off labels which didn’t help. As for the Doors here in the US i wouldn’t say Morrison Hotel is particularly hard to find. It was probably their least seller at the time with no obvious singles but Id have to say LA Woman with the original sleeve is by far the hardest to find as the original sleeve got replaced with a cheaper version as soon as Elektra could do it. No idea why but id say Waiting for the Sun is the hardest to find. You just don’t see them much, why i don’t know but in my experience its the one you see the least in the wild. Now if you want to add mono into the mix,all the original mono Doors lps are hard to find and in excellent shape nearly impossible. James Brown has two strikes. One they didn’t sell well despite being well known. His audience favored singles. Two he was considered party records, which explains itself. As the party wore on the James Brown records would come out but unfortunately that is never the best time to break out any lp!
Great comment. It’s all relative for sure and depends where you live also. Very interesting comment about James Brown as mostly a singles artist. Insightful add! Thanks. 🎉🙏
Here in the northeast US, I feel like all the Doors albums (not including anything post-Jim) are about equally rare/common. If we are going by original pressings, LA Woman is perhaps the hardest to find, but not by much. I base this off how often I see the cover with the yellow window. But if we are getting more specific, the mono pressing of Waiting For The Sun is insanely rare. It was not a promo, but an actual retail edition on the gold Elektra label. I know you are talking about titles and not pressings, though.
I almost went with the window cover of LA Woman. That first press is pretty tough get. Cheers for the comment! 🎉
@@dotsloops7486 Right after I watched your video, I was watching a video that my local record store just put up showing new arrivals. What was in there? Thrust by Herbie Hancock, which is not particularly common in my area. either. Never fails, haha.
@JWD1992- I also live in NE US- and totally agree with your comment. "Waiting For The Sun" Mono has been rare for decades now and is no doubt the rarest Doors OG LP of the bunch. Any Doors LPs I see in the wild have covers that are worn down and vinyl is VG to VG+ if your lucky. These records were bought and played to death. I'm an "OG" guy and generally don't purchase re-issues, though I admit I did buy the Analogue Productions 2x45 of L.A. Woman, and yes, the sound is phenomenal-which was the reason I picked it up- but still doesn't compare as an artifact with my OG copy.
My head would explode trying to list them all - Ween, Jethro Tull (with Procol Harum opening), Neil Young (with Booker T and MGs backing him, Soundgarden and Blind Melon opening), Daniel Johnston, Polyphonic Spree, Kinks (backstage passes, watched ON STAGE in a VIP section), Beck (Apples in Stereo opening), Mazzy Star (Sparklehorse Opening), John Cale (with Stereolab opening), Double Bill of Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Explode!!!🤯 You did it!
Sweet Uni shirt. I rarely see metal out and about, especially not those classic Priest albums. It took awhile to find a clean copy of Hunky Dory for me, and a friend ended up getting it for me in the Netherlands.
Priest hard to find!!!
Additional: any band where the fans buy and keep their OGs religiously. My fav band The Church being one as I had to track down all pre 1990 when I got into them. Ditto Smiths, Cure, Depeche Mode. If majority settle for reissues that affects too. Morbid to say but as generations age and die more big collections will come back into the marketplace. The Doors got bigger here after the Oliver Stone film that was very noticeable. Cheers Dan.
Great comment. Many bands mine the Cure I think those albums just don’t come up because fans keep them! Cheers 🎉
Snap Dan, I'd probably agree with you on "Morrison Hotel". I don't think it jumps out at when mentioning Doors albums. I think all the others are probably more talked about, even Soft Parade for the horn/brass inclusion. I find it interesting when you talk about original "Canadian" copies. Are they as hard to find as "original" U.S./U.K. copies? I tend to hunt down original 45's/LP's from the country that the band came from. I remember when Sire released the Ramones, Talking Heads, and Richard Hell debut albums, and I ordered them from an importer, to get hold of U.S. copies. The price's were double the cost to the U.K. releases though!
Richard Hell. I used to have and sold it. Dumb! I do think Morrison Hotel is the toughest. Cheers! 🎉
@@dotsloops7486 Hell's "Another World" 3-tracker from '76 is pretty cool, as is the Voidoid's/Neon Boys (Hell/Verlaine) EP from 1980.
So true, if I find James Brown in VG condition I’m over the moon. I’ve gotten lucky with Rev Al Green and have a fat stack in VG+ condition, Doors album, LA Woman is a challenge. I would add early Floyd albums: Piper, Clouds, Meddle, very hard to find clean here in Ontario
Nice on Al Green! Never see them! Meddle in clean shape. Very hard! Cheers! 🎉
Most difficult Doors lp to find here in the UK for me has been Soft Parade. I'll not bore you with the story about how I had one in my hand once then left it behind on a record stall in a senior moment 😢. 1st and 2nd don't turn up here either to be fair but weirdly Morrison Hotel I have seen a number of times. UK presses were very much pressed in limited numbers for the majority of these 60s records so you'd be surprised how rare it is to find such items here. So you can include debut Blue Cheer in that limited number as well....seen 2 or 3 copies in 30 years! The Smiths are about and get bought with a quickness (obviously prices reflect that popularity) but I can't say which one is the lesser seen. Cheers Nige
Good stuff! Not sure why the Blue Cheer debut is easier to find here. But I see it ALL the time. Not rare at all over here. Cheers! 🎉
Chris Isaak ogs are definitely hard to find! I got lucky and found a copy of Forever Blue on blue vinyl from 2015 at my local Barnes & Nobles for $16 median price is now $150 Take care Brian ☮️
Nice one Brian. Yeah he’s a tough get! Cheers 🎉
Great that you've done a part 2 here Dan..but then i guess you could just keep rolling with this subject... Smiths albums, like The Cure and those popular 80s UK cult artists are getting harder to find, and becoming very expensive, particularly The Queen Is Dead. Hatful of Hollow etc...i resigned myself to reissues of both of these artists. I actually see Remain in Light quite a bit at fairs and independent shops here in the UK..Once in A Lifetime was a big hit here. Never see any Blue Cheer albums, would be very happy to find a copy of Vincebus Eruptus in any condition!. I guess the reasoning here is that perhaps some artists sold and were more prevalent in certain markets and regions compared to others...i guess popularity and collectability play a part too. Have a great weekend. Rob.
Thanks Rob. Feels like The Queen Is Dead is just harder and harder to find in the wild, like many of them. Have a great weekend! Cheers 🎉
The Human League cover is nicer than the UK one. Seems you spent alot depending on reselling so did you have an ultra successful day as a seller too?
Cash was rolling in!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bob Marley and the Wailers OGs are hard to find.
Are they ever! I see Legends sometimes. But original albums. Tough! Thanks for comment
All of those artists are harder to find, true. In my region.. Commodores and Iron Butterfly are easier. I had to drive to San Francisco to find HP Lovecraft. I would add Savoy Brown records, and Clean Grand Funk to the "hard to find" Nice video. Are those 1st press Canadian for Bowie ? Man Who Sold The World on the original art would be a tough one to find.. And Bowie's debut on UK press. Nice video.. Cheers from Nevada ☺
Wow. Are clean original Grand Funk albums are to find or what!?!? Good call. Thanks for comment 🎉
They really are, especially the "Red Album" and Grand Funk Live".. They are almost always in VG or worse condition ! Those things got played.. A lot ! Haha
Can't compare vinyl to cards and comics. People who collect cards and comics, they don't "use" it like we use vinyl. Even if we spin it a few times and shelve it. Comic collectors don't read their comics and card collectors put them in a hard case and whack it or something, idk.
Thanks for commenting
For me the hardest Bowie album to find is Hunky Dory. I can't say I have ever seen Dusty, but have found a copy of " Trouble Man " and one Budgie album. Very happy also with my " Whats going on " anniversary double album. Cheers Dan.
Dusty In Memphis a tough get for sure! 👍
I’m a little surprised nobody has mentioned original pressings of Van Halen’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or Balance. Both sold millions of copies, but I’ve only seen a first US press of Balance once at a record shop. The cds are at every thrift store though. 90s presses in general I almost never see other than 12” singles
Good ones. Why are those so hard to find??? Did the vinyl sell that well? It was it CD? Thanks for comment
@@dotsloops7486 The main reason those ones are very hard to come by is because they came out in 1991 and 1995. Not a lot of vinyl was being pressed in the US then, and even though they were popular albums, they were mainly sold on cd and cassette. There are very limited amounts of the vinyl, and they go for hundreds of dollars
I just listened to all of Bowies studioalbums and did a best of. Love him. Space Oddity is a hard one to find.
That one is pretty hard in nice shape. Hope all is well!!! 🎉
Out of print reissues are something to consider as well. Many have increased in value overtime, especially in the rare or obscure Psych genre.
Agree and I must say I have foolishly sold some re issues I should not have, some of those prices have really increased, thanks for comment
Hey, I featured "Dusty In Memphis" in one my videos earlier this year. I think it was the first time I'd seen it in the wild and I snagged it. I have two copies of The Kinks "Arthur." I found my first copy over a decade ago at Monster Music in Charleston, S.C. This is a US Reprise Stereo first press from 1969, Side One is NM and side two is VG for whatever reason. I recently found a PRT Spanish copy of "Arthur" at Sounds Good in Port St. Lucie, Fla. and that pressing sounds much better than the '69 Reprise one, but it doesn't have the gatefold or the cool cartoon lyric sheet insert. Sounds Good still has a sealed Reprise copy of "Arthur," but sadly and good for me that not many people in the Port St. Lucie area care about The Kinks or psychedelic music in general. I also have two MONO US Capitol rainbow copies of "Sgt. Pepper." Both are prob in solid VG condition. I'll prob sell one, but I have to keep the one I bought from my guitar teacher when I was 14, and it has all the inserts. Thanks for the video, I'll take a look around your channel today!
Great comment. I subbed your channel. Two Arthur’s. Nice! It’s a hard find. Dusty. So scarce in the wild. Never ever see it! Cheers!🎉
@@dotsloops7486 Right on! I try to stop into record stores whenever I'm out of town, as that seems to really shake things up and help me find things that aren't readily available in my area. These tend to be albums that true record collectors seem to seek out. It's too much for a lot of folks, but this is the vinyl community and we like to keep the records spinning and just tired of the same old same old.
The Bowie dress cover is almost impossible now. The nineties vinyl are hard to find too. Bowie's first on Deram in mono is hard to find too.
For sure! 👍
In a Gadda Da Vida-Iron Butterfly, but the scarce 1st one on lavender/tan label!!
Nice! 👍
